Two Hommés: Reviews & Ratings

Came here w/ a dinner reservation last Friday evening. Unassuming, hole-in-the-wall from the outside. They have moderate space but can feel a little too close to other patrons, however seats were comfortable w/ relatively nice ambience. Foodwise - simply delicious and flavorful. This establishment uses seasoning well and the entrees we had seemed a little sweet-forward (which I didn’t mind at all). We loved the flavor profile of the Grilled Broccolini, the Braised Short Rib had perfect texture, and the Garlic Noodles were good! Drink-wise the Sour was definitely a personal favorite, very tasteful. And the Young Fashioned had a usual kick you’d expect from that type of drink. We also enjoyed the Sweet Potato Churro - what an inventive treat! Lastly, Nita (Juanita on the receipt) our server was so lovely and personable - she made our first-time experience here that much more enjoyable. Thanks Nita - we appreciate your time and superb service! We’ll definitely try to make another reservation to try out y’all’s brunch menu.

The ambiance was intimate but lively. Great music playing in the background. The service was great- Nina was so kind and offered great suggestions. The food was robust with flavor and a generous portion. The chicken bites were crispy, a little sweet and tangy. The Jollof rice with crispy catfish was cooked to perfection. It came with black beans (delicious!) and sweet plantains. The burger was good but definitely worth skipping and trying other menu items. The house lemonade was so refreshing and not too sweet. Overall wonderful experience. Will be back!

We were highly impressed with the food and the ambiance!! Get the sea bass dish!! Get the jollof platter with a protein, we got chicken. I wish I had more space in my stomach it was so good. The night we went, the sea bass was over a bed of lobster corn curry instead of collards. There was so much lobster. The corn curry, the okra, the crunchies on top of the perfectly cooked fish: Home run!! The jollof platter was also a hit! Sweet plantain: perfection Black beans: 11/10 best I’ve ever had. Soupy but Seasoned like no other. Arugula: lightly dressed, balances the flavors Chicken: perfectly cooked, tender, flavorful Jollof rice: delicious with a legit touch of spice for those of us who don’t prefer spicy food. To be clear, it was not too hot for me but the heat was there enough for me to want to mention it. When you eat the jollof rice with the chicken and plantain you’ll be fine. Eating the rice by itself, you’ll feel some heat it if you’re a lightweight. People like my boyfriend who like spice won’t even notice the heat. We stopped by without a reservation on a busy Saturday night around 8:30pm. The place was packed and there were people waiting in front of us. We were fortunate to get a table in less than 10 minutes The kitchen closes at 9:15. There is a large Ralph’s parking lot behind the restaurant. Some spots are reserved for school staff but we parked there anyway since it was Saturday night and all the other businesses looked closed. The service was very slow. The food didn’t take long to come out but it felt like we waited close to 15 minutes to order, didn’t get checked on while we ate, the waitress stopped by to tell us that the kitchen was closing just in case we wanted dessert but other than that we were on our own. We had to flag someone down to get to-go boxes, then we had to flag someone down again to pay the check. We understand that a lot of places are short staffed and doing their best but it helps when there is some acknowledgment like “thank you for your patience” or “sorry that took awhile” or something. That being said the food was more than worth it! We are definitely going back! I need to try those garlic noodles and I would eat that sea bass for life!!

If you can afford it in this economy the food is absolutely delicious. I had the Chilean Bass and a Young Fashioned for dinner and then the This is a Cheesecake? and the Sobolo Spritz for dessert. All of it was amazing. The staff was nice, warm and welcoming. Great place to bring a date or to just have some good food with friends.

One of the best meals I’ve had all year! After hearing so many great things from friends, my friend and I finally tried this spot and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Honey Berbere Chicken Bites, Lamb and White Bean Hummus, and I had the Garlic Noodles with fried catfish. Everything was incredible. I also had the Sentinela Sour and it was so refreshing. I wanted to try the sweet potato churro but I was too full. I’ll definitely be back soon for dinner and brunch. Highly recommend checking it out and supporting this amazing Black owned restaurant!

Five Stars is not enough! Incredible service, food and atmosphere. We sampled the house salad that has pecan, goat cheese, shallots, arugula, and a lemon vinaigrette, so delicious! We had the plantains with crab salad and the honey berber chicken. Everything was packed with flavor and so fresh. We were full but didn't stop. For entrees we had the jolly platter that came with more salad and plantains, black beans and we added salmon; the sea bass with beans and greens and the garlic noodles topped with salmon. To die for! For dessert, we shared the sweet potato churro and the plantain cake. Again, absolutely phenomenal and delicious. In addition to the food being absolutely decadent, hot and fresh, the service was also impeccable, attentive and exemplary. I cannot wait to go back.

Stumbled upon this place for last minute dinner while visiting from out of town. We were seated relatively quickly at the bar with no reservation. It did take them a bit longer than usual to service us, but things moved quickly once they did. The cocktails were delicious and a good reprieve from overly sugared ones the previous few days. The cuisine further sealed the deal — we started with the broccolini and lamb hummus, then shared jollof with catfish. We were so full we could barely finish. Will definitely circle back here next time we’re out that way!
